AVR 3310CI Good & Bad
The AVR 3310CI is loaded with nice features. Excellent sound quality, inputs for just about anything, and decent menus for setting up and using the receiver. The amplifiers give a very good quality sound, not as good as my MacIntosch system but not bad for the money. Construction is good and it runs fairly cool being it is in a somewhat enclosed area. Technical support is good in that there is little wait time when calling.

Now for the bad. I have now gone through 3 AVR 3310CI receivers trying to get one that works. I believe that most if not all of the issues I have are due to firmware problems as the hardware seems to work just fine. I would try to update the firmware but there are even problems with this function as it takes forever (many hours) and most of the time it will abort or hang in the middle of the download/update process so you have to try and try again. My first unit eventually got into a hang state in that it couldn't update the firmware and as a result...

Firmware Problems
I've had my Denon 3310CI AVR for 6 months now and it has been working fine. That is until I did the firmware update. Something has gone wrong with the programming in the system. The main remote does not work as it should and gives unpredictable results. The unit no longer connects to the internet and I can't see any network activity lights at the back of the box. When switching from once source to another, for example from DVD to PS3, there is no sound but there is video. I have to turn off the unit and turn it back on to get the sound. I'm unsure what to do now. If I had seen these reviews before I would not have upgraded the firmware because the unit was working fine out of the box. There were no problems during the firmware update. The power did not go off and internet connectivity was never lost. So, it totally confuses me as to what the problem could be. I'm currently researching the net for answers.

Not Bad, But Get It On Sale
I had been scoping out Denon's and other brands for a while. I finally decided on this unit due to it's features and price point. I highly recommend the Denon website for comparing different XX10CI models. So far, I have been happy with my purchase. It has a whole host of features including up-converting all inputs to HDMI, HD Radio, Sirius capable, 5 HDMI inputs, 3 audio zones, and completely re-assignable digital/analog inputs. The ability to reassign different audio and video inputs on the fly has turned out to be quite useful, something I did not anticipate. Overall sound quality has been superb so far.

One downside is menus can be a little slow to navigate through, and the GUI isn't too sharp looking. It's certainly not the XMB from Sony, but it's functional. If I wanted cool looking menus with overpriced sound, I would have bought a Sony. Features that this unit does not have include dual HDMI outputs (I don't really foresee myself having two TV's in one...

Works well if you have the right switch/router--later started misbehaving
I feel like I'm in a good place to review this item because I own both the Seagate 220 and also the Western Digital MyBook World Edition, and they are competitors. Both are inexpensive network attached storage appropriate for a home office or for home use. For both machines the only feature I use is reading and writing to the hard drive through windows sharing (from either a windows computer or a linux computer). For that reason I will not comment too much on some of the features like automatic backups, media sharing, etc. For the most part on machines of this level those features are gimmicks. They don't work very well and they degrade overall performance of the NAS, as you will be able to read from other people's reviews. When I want to play media from my NAS, I just mount the drive through windows sharing and play what I want. When I want to back up my computer, I copy stuff myself. Fantastic for personal or business use
I've owned the Seagate NAS 220 for about a month now and I have been blown away. The 2 TB unit has two one-terabyte drives and gives you the ability to choose whether you want more space (RAID 0) or more reliability (RAID 1). I opted for greater reliability.

There are three things that really impressed me with this product:

The speed: With the RAID 1 setup, when you read a file from the NAS, you're reading it from 2 hard rives simultaneously, and over a gigabit connection this means I can copy files from the hard drive at 40 megabytes per second. Writing is half that, about 20 megabytes per second.

The power consumption + noise: I figured I would hide this somewhere to prevent hearing it, but its so quiet that I keep it on top of my desk so I can see it. It's visually appealing to look at. Also, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is very low. When reading/writing from the drive, it uses about 18 watts, which at $.10/kWh is about $16 annually if it is...
More space than I will ever need??
I've worked in IT since 1983. I've had lots of units (Western Digital - UGH!) and this Seagate unit has been the best of it's kind, though it's not for the technologically challenged.

If you are looking for a drive you can plug in and use, you'll need to do a bit of work to get this up and running, but once configured - it's hands off for everything else. I would not recommend this to someone who doesn't have a good understanding of setting up disk shares/users/groups or isn't willing to read up on these subjects to configure the device.

It's relatively easy to setup for the technically savvy but not so easy to setup if you're a computer novice. The machine plugs directly on your home network (router/hub) and can be accessed by any device that will connect to a 'shared' drive. It does not have wireless connectivity, but if you connect it into a wireless hub, you can access it via a wireless device (e.g. a wireless laptop running iTunes or Windows Media or...

You'll never go back to inkjet after using this - Easy setup (Mac or PC), speedy, good quality, compact, and networkable
I was a little worried about the paper curling issue at first, but having used this printer for a while, it is not as bad as some people make it out to be. Yes, the paper is curled slightly when it first comes out, but if you set it aside on a flat surface and let it cool for a few seconds, the paper will flatten out by itself. I have seen other laser printers that do far worse curling.

Network setup is very easy, especially if you're using Mac OS X Tiger or Panther. I was able to connect both with Bonjour/Rendezvous wirelessly via Linksys 802.11g router after installing drivers downloaded off Brother's website. Also was able to connect a PC running Win XP, which required an extra step or two. After you're connected, if you need to change any default printer settings, it's all done through a web interface (both FireFox and Safari worked fine).

Great Printer For The Whole House
This is a great way to let all the computers in your house share one printer. In my house I have 5... my PC, my wife's PC, a laptop each, and a low-end DIY box I use for playing with Linux.

The installation of this printer was really easy. I plugged it into one of the wired ports on our wireless router and had all the PCs in the house printing to it within 10 minutes. I not only got our Windows machines using it in minutes, when I recently did a test install of Linspire on my DIY box, Linux printed to it with no problem too.

The output quality is great and it warms up pretty quickly. The only "bad" part is when I'm at my desk upstairs (where the printer is), my wife is downstairs with her laptop, and she prints something. Having the printer start up and print without warning was sort of spooky and took a little getting used to.

Brother Quality Continues to Impress
This makes my third Brother laser printer that I have owned over the years. All three printers continue to be operational despite heavy workloads that I put on them in my small business. In fact, the only reason I bought the 2070N was because I wanted the convenience of the built-in networking capabilities. When it comes to quality, Brother shined above all the others and continues to do so.

Noob User Experience
My first NAS and I like it. I considered building one from scratch but I spend enough time doing that with my PC. I chose the ReadyNAS because it can back up my PC as well as remote backup family members (PC & Mac), has support for Squeezebox (used by my two Logitech Squeezebox Touch devices), TiVo support (useless unless DirecTV releases their promised TiVo DVR to replace their lame custom DVR). I picked the 6 bay one so I can start with 2 x Seagate Constellation ES 2 TB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s 64 MB Cache 3.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive ST32000644NS - Bare Drive now and then add larger drives later as I need them and HDD capacities increase.

This review is a work in progress until the Ultra 6 Plus does everything I need it to do.

DOA update
I sent in a review for this about a week ago and it never showed up. Just like the NAS bought through Beach Audio, DOA.

The unit exhibited problems from the very start. On boot, it had an error message, "ERR: Could not mount Root RAID d" The management and configuration program, "RAIDar" stated it had a "Corupt Boot" I used 6 SeaGate 2T HD's on the hardware compatibility list found on NetGear's web site.

After extensive research on NetGear's web site, I found several articles that might solve the problems. None of these worked. I call NetGear tech support for help. It seems that the articles on the NetGear web site listed under FAQ for the ReadyNAS Ultra 6 Plus, are not for this unit. All the documentation matched, so I'm guessing that the product is still new enough that the rep did not know what he was talking about. The tech guy actually accused me of causing the problem.

Anyway, after several hours, the conclusion was that this unit needs...
Ready NAS - not bad, but could be better
I bought the ReadyNAS Ultra to replace an older DroboPro that was just driving me crazy with its ISCSI limitations and systemic problems.

PROS: I like the 6 bay technology, the ease of setup and the fast interfaces, both LAN, USA and ISCSI. Ready NAS is very fast, reliable and attractive. As a matter of fact, it sits right next to my AV receiver adorning my other components and looks very professional and neat. The panel is easy to use and drive installation and setup out of box is non-dramatic and easy.

CONS: The software has a limitation that requires the interface to be sued solely through Internet Explorer and is a bit sluggish. Once volumes are created with hard drives, they CANNOT be extended when a new drive is added, instead you are forced to create another separate volume and share it independently of the first volume, so if you are planning on using the ReadyNAS for a massive, single volume device, buy all the hard drives up front (pricey) and...
