Very nice entertainment laptopI feel compelled to review this since there are so few reviews out there for this. Right off the bat, this is a very good looking laptop. My co-worker asked what I was doing purchasing another 1000$ laptop - little does he know what the true cost was. Anyway, outside of the great looks (it is covered in a copper colored metal on the lid and on the inside), I am impressed with the speakers -- nice sound for speakers (their higher lines have nicer speakers than these even). The A4 processor is able to play some basic games, and it has had no problem running HD video or Netflix). Machine is quiet, and I think I am getting about 2-3 hours playing video disconnected from an AC cord. Nice keyboard (as expected), very nice soft touch power/media buttons (back lit). Ok display - hard to compare to a MBP. Very quiet machine, so far runs very cool,and the fan, when running is largely silent. I have owned many, many laptops over the years, and $ for $, I have to say this is the best one...
Yeow! What a great computer!I considered a few computers before settling on this one - I was ready to get an Acer for $30 more than this one but my son-in-law, who's a professional computer guy, told me to stick with the Sony Vaio I'd been looking at or to consider Asus or Lenovo, both of which he'd come to respect. I did a little more looking and decided this Lenovo was the best choice - great specs, positive owner reviews and the totally subjective stuff like it looks great and I'm a sucker for 21st century features like facial recognition instead of a password for login. Setup was quick and easy and from what I've seen so far it's got it all going on. The visuals are great, the sound from the speakers is adequate and really, who cares since it's gonna be coming through some nice headphones or the surround system when I plug the HDMI cord into my TV. I immediately uninstalled the McAfee or whateveritwas security system and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials which had kept my last laptop free of problems...
Good basic laptopI've been very happy with this Lenovo. I actually bought this to replace a 6 year old Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad, and felt I should give them another try. Once again quite pleased. Feels durable and makes good use of the space with its full sized keyboard. I can easily play/output 1080p content via HDMI, and the battery lasts a good little while if you turn the screen brightness down. I use a macbook pro for work, and I feel that this $500 Lenovo outperforms the MBP doing a number of tasks. But primarily for what I need, this is the right laptop at the right price. Gaming, 1080p video, nice keyboard. Great overall.
